"Environmental Science" is a 146-page paperbound text with accompanying record book which is part of a series designed to present pupils in the junior high grades with an overview of science concepts and the experimental method. The text, for ninth graders, includes 8 chapters each containing several paragraphs of narrative content followed by comprehension questions and pupil experiments. Three-color drawings, charts, and photographs illustrate each step of the experimental procedure. Pupils are asked to note their findings in record books. A final section of the text contains 10 additional experiments. The text introduces the concept of pollution and the field of ecology. Lessons are included on the spread of the Black Death in the fourteenth centurey, the effect of organnisms on the environment, water pollution, pesticides and nonbiodegradable chemicals, thermal pollution and the population explosion.
